ABOUT

In this hands-on workshop, you'll be guided by a professional Wagashi artisan to make two types of traditional Japanese sweets, each representing the beauty of autumn in Japan. Each participant will make a total of four sweets (two of each type), enjoy them at the end of the session, and take the remaining pieces home with them.

"Moon Rabbit" & "Sparkling Leaves"

  1. “Moon Rabbit” – Steamed Japanese yam manju (Jōyo Manjū) filled with smooth red bean paste. Inspired by the full moon of the Japanese harvest festival ( Jugoya ), this sweet is a steamed Japanese yam bun. You will decorate the rabbit’s eyes (with edible coloring) and ears (with cinnamon) yourself.
  2. “Sparkling Leaves” – Nerikiri sweet filled with coarse red bean paste. Symbolizing autumn foliage and persimmon leaves, this sweet is made from pre-colored Nerikiri paste in three shades. You will shape and create the leaf pattern yourself by hand.

WHAT TO BRING

  • All ingredients and equipment will be provided by the organizers.
  • Please feel free to ask questions during the session – we encourage curiosity and creativity!
  • You don't need to bring anything, but we recommend wearing clothes with sleeves that can be easily rolled up.
